Hi! I don’t have a final decision on whether I wish to pursue a visa to remain in Ukraine. (I’m a UK Citizen) Things are changing fast. I was curious… do you think it would even be possible for me to get one now during the quarantine? Is there a reasonable chance that when I exited the country they’d simply not let me back in even with the temporary visa, etc? Thanks.
Hello Eric! Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, both state migration service and all Ukrainian embassies are not working at the moment, so no one gets a visa or a residence permit issued at the moment. At the same time, the quarantine regime is already being softened and we can expect the government services to start operating reasonably soon. Currently, we recommend making necessary paperwork preparations to be able to apply for a visa or temporary residence permit as soon as those functions start operating.
Do you think you would be able to assist me on the matter?
My current status: I planning to move to Kyiv to start living with my fiancé, but I am not ready to get married yet. It there any legal way for me to live in Ukraine long term?
Dear Furkan, thanks for your inquiry. According to the local immigration legislation, you have a right to get a 1-year temporary residence permit (TRP) if you will be involved in volunteer activity with a local NGO that has a right to recruit foreign volunteers. We will be able to get you involved in such work and prepare the necessary paperwork to get you TRP.
Hi. Are the TRP and Visa D the same thing?
Hello Joel! Thanks for your question. TRP stands for the Temporary Residence Permit that is issued for the period from 1 to 3 years that can be recieved on the basis of a corresponding Visa D. In order to get a TRP based on volunteer activity, you will need to get a Visa D-10.
Thanks, information above is very helpful. If I go for the one year volunteer option, how much does it cost to extend it for another year? How many years can you extend it for?
Hi Oliver, thank you for your positive feedback! You can extend your volunteer activity-based temporary residence every year and for one year at a time. Plus you will not have to get a visa for an extension.
Hello Arar
My friend (and me also) is interested to get Visa, but would you give me some more info?
– what kind of document is needed for getting invitation from NGO
– how long period is needed to get it?
– is it extendable?
Hello Sarunas! Thanks for your message. Recently we have added all information about obtaining a 1-year temporary residence permit on the page just above this Q&A section, so you can get all the answers there.
