Considering a move to Europe for work? Hungary welcomes you. Strategically located in Central Europe, it shares borders with Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia, offering endless travel and exploration options.
What Makes Hungary a Great Option?
Hungary offers a solid immigration framework with many opportunities for foreign workers. The Residence Card for Seasonal Employment is designed to make it easy for professionals to live and work in the country.
Foreign nationals choose Hungary for its competitive cost of living, multicultural communities, and excellent healthcare and education systems. Consequently, the immigrant population in Hungary has recently reached 52%. Budapest, the capital, remains one of the most affordable cities to visit in Europe and continues to attract companies and individuals to start businesses there, thanks to simple procedures.
Key Information About the Application Process
The process of immigrating to Hungary for work is straightforward and well-structured. It begins with preparing the invitation documents — a preliminary agreement on the establishment of an employment relationship — from a Hungarian employer. Once ready, they are sent to the applicant. After receiving your invitation documents, you will proceed to your visa appointment. Once approved, you can obtain your National Visa D, single entry, valid for 30 days and travel to Hungary.
Upon arrival, you can start working with your employer and apply for your Residence Card, which allows you to live and work in Hungary as long as you remain employed with the same employer.
Your residence status can be extended for the same purpose for up to 6 months within a 12-month period, without leaving the country. Additionally, it permits free movement within the EU for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. The consulate refers to this immigration program as The Residence Card for Seasonal Employment.
